Optom Nerd (“the App”) is developed and operated by Market-Mee LTD (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in the United Kingdom.

Optom Nerd is an educational application designed for optometry students, pre-registration optometrists and eye care professionals. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal data in a transparent and responsible manner.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We want to be clear and transparent:

• We do not require user accounts

• We do not collect names, email addresses, or contact details

• We do not collect patient or health data

• We do not collect payment information

• We do not use advertising or tracking technologies

• We do not track users across apps or websites

Payments for the App are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and we do not receive or store any payment or billing information.

3. Information Collected Automatically (Limited)

Crash and diagnostic data

The App currently uses Firebase Crashlytics, a diagnostic service provided by Google, to identify and fix app crashes and technical issues.

Crashlytics may collect:

• Anonymous crash reports

• Device type and operating system version

• App version

• Technical diagnostic data related to app stability

This information:

• Is anonymous

• Is not linked to any individual user

• Is used solely to improve app performance and reliability

• Is not used for tracking or advertising

The data collected by Firebase Crashlytics is processed on our behalf by Google LLC, which acts as a data processor. We remain the data controller.

Our lawful basis for processing this data is legitimate interests, namely ensuring the stability, security, and proper functioning of the application.

Crash diagnostics data is retained only for as long as necessary to investigate and resolve technical issues, after which it is automatically deleted in accordance with Firebase’s data retention policies.

If Crashlytics is removed in future versions, this type of data will no longer be collected.

4. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App may store the following locally on your device only:

• Notes

• Bookmarks

• Learning progress or preferences

• Is not uploaded to any server

• Is not accessible to us

• Is deleted if you uninstall the App

5. How We Use Information

Any limited technical data collected is used only to:

• Maintain and improve app stability

• Diagnose and fix technical issues

• Improve user experience

We do not use data for marketing, profiling, or behavioural tracking.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.

Limited anonymous diagnostic data may be processed by:

• Google Firebase Crashlytics

This processing is strictly for app stability and performance monitoring.

Although Market-Mee LTD is based in the UK, Optom Nerd is available worldwide. Any data processed through third-party services may be processed outside the UK or EEA in accordance with applicable data protection laws and safeguards.

8. Children’s Privacy

Optom Nerd is intended for users aged 13 and over.

The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

As the App does not collect or store personal data, most data protection rights (such as access or deletion requests) are not applicable.
